RSS and Adding Feeds

Hi,

So far we have learned how to create a blog, share photos online and now RSS Feeds. By creating an account you can get RSS Feeds on topics that you are interested in. For example some of my choices were Dogs or Music and Movies. Also by making your account public it gives other people a chance to see what you are interested and they can share comments too. With the way the technology is changing soon papers will be gone and the only way to get any news will be RSS or the Internet. One plus to that is think of all the trees were saving and that we are also helping the planet.

Technology

Technology that I most enjoy working with are computers. With computers the learning never ends. You have many possibilities for learning different programs like web page design or learning new technology that was developed like blogging or Web 2.0. Computers give you a way to reach and learn about different locations and to hear or see what is happening at a moments notice. The days of getting our information after the fact like in a newspaper or TV are now being replace with watching it unfold in the moment or seconds later. Who knows what the future will being. Just like in the 1960's (or early) when people we told there would be phones where you would see the other party and now we have web cam.
One can only wonder the future will being...

This is the 3-dimensional mural that greet patrons when they are headed to either the ReferenceDept or the Children's Dept.

It is much enjoyed by the patrons as well as the staff. When looking out the mural it gives you a feeling of being there or wanted to go there.

Thoughts about Seven and 1/2 Habits of Highly Successful Life long Learners.

Of the Seven habits that would be the hardest would be Habit #1" Beginning with the end in mind". Planning what you want to accomplish is easy but sitting down and doing what needs to be done is hard. We all have good intention on what we want to do then things get in the way or we say soon or maybe next month . Hopefully by the end of the 23 Things I will have learned to accomplish more of my goals and have fun while doing it.

Blogging and Library

Blogging in libraries could add a new dimension to how information is exchange. For example answering reference questions or maybe keeping patrons updated on any new changes at the library. Patrons could log in and check out reviews of library programs or may they could add their own reviews. There could be a blog for people to share technical information or help with computer problems. Patrons could feel like they are part of the library by letting them do Reader Advisory by exchanging thoughts on books that they have read, but only time will tell how.
